APPOINTMENT OF MR. ANTOINE AZOUR

The first meeting of the Maronite leagues and foundations appointed Mr. Antoine Azour - who is a member of the board of trustees of the World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development and President of its Strategic and Planning Committee - in the position of General Coordinator of the Maronite leagues and foundations. 

The meeting was held in Bkerké on Tuesday the 7th of June, presided by the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai, was the first of its kind, assisted by: the Maronite League, the Central Council of the Maronite Societies, the Maronite Foundation in the World, the World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development, Maronite Social Fund, Tele Lumiere, Noursat, The Lebanese Cooperative for Development, Qannoubine League for Message and Cultural Heritage, in addition to number of Bishops, Priests and the Director of the media office in Bkerké.     

The meeting aimed at expanding the basis of acquaintance among the Maronite Foundations and to establish a common space between them allowing coordination in order to launch initiatives and exchange ideas and information that are related thereto, and programming and coordinating work plans.

The attendees appointed Mr. Azour as General Coordinator to follow up on the work between the different Maronite Committees. Mr. Azour shall also coordinate common communications, set up procedures allowing more efficiency and integrity in all actions and projects.

Azour thanked His Beatitude, Patriarch Rai, the Archbishops and the meeting attendees for their trust, expressing his hope to reach a work plan, inspired by the church teachings, the directives of His Beatitude in the best interest of the Church and the Nation.

 In return, the Vice President of the World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development, Dr. Salim Sfeir, congratulated Antoine Azour for this new responsibility, that will be added to his national and social missions, considering that his nomination is a proof of trust in the World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development trustees, wishing him success in his new missions and putting all the facilities at his disposal.
